Why and When did it Start?

In June of 1997, a group of concerned residents just got fed up with the high number of break and enters in our area.  They learned that the Solicitor General of Ontario’s Office was promoting a “Community on Phone Patrol” program for just such reasons.  Edwards Area Community on Phone Patrol, or Edwards Watch, was formed. In 2008 our name was change to Edwards-Metcalfe Watch to better reflect our area of patrol.

 

What is its Mission?

The mission of Edwards-Metcalfe Watch is to reduce the amount of crime in our community by:

· Discouraging potential criminals from plying their trade in our area, primarily through conducting regular patrols

· Identifying and reporting any suspicious activity in the community, primarily through community observation

· Educating the local population in crime prevention.

 

Is Edwards-Metcalfe Watch Legitimate?

Edwards-Metcalfe Watch is recognized by the Solicitor General of Ontario, the Ottawa Police Service, Revenue Canada and the City of Ottawa.  You just can’t get more legitimate than that!
